Harland and Horbury sparkle in midweek WSAA League match
The never-ending train of low-pressure fronts, and Southerly biased winds bringing heavy rain, does not appear to be in sight for the Whitby Sea Anglers Association League members, who were in action on Wednesday December 17.
The sea state continues to be flat, bar some very-local lift.

Southerly winds, gusting 45mph, with 2.5mm of rain forecast, it was not a very pleasant few hours understandably enthusiasm was very low, just seven seniors fished.
The rain was torrential from 7.50pm and did not let up until after the weigh-in, brutal. No chance of seeing an amber alert for an aurora, only the distant glow of Teesside.
Neap tide, LWater 8.38pm the further out onto the open scaurs, the stronger the wind got, at times ‘nudging one’ off-balance. Fish bites (codling) were few and far between, nothing on the ebb. One bite on the flood had to count, a codling in the bag, job done.
Just four weighed-in, one codling and nine whitings.
Man of the Match was Brian Harland, Whitby, with 3 lb 4 oz (5 whitings).
Heaviest Fish, the first codling for three matches, fell to Secretary Peter Horbury, also from Whitby.
December to date (just the Christmas match to go) – 93 whitings, seven dabs, six codlings, four rocklings, two haddock and one LSD (122 fish) - for 70 lb 2 oz, very poor.
January and February are known to be poor months as codlings move into deeper waters to spawn, and it is thought many anglers will pack up their kit for the season!
