Perrett and Ebison hit top form in Whitby Sea Anglers Association League

Dave Perrett and Jason Ebison have hit top form in the latest Whitby Sea Anglers Association League fixtures.

Easterly sea state 4-6ft, no colour, SEasterly breeze 9-21mph, broken cloud cover. Most welcome, “no rain” for the three-hour Wednesday evening match. Match started 90 minutes after low water on a neap tide. During January we have gained two hours of daylight.

Right from the start it was obvious the sea state was not right, swells were sporadic! The flood was keen, but as the depth of water over the outer reefs increased, so did the surging. One minute black waters and calm, followed by a total white-out.

There were two ‘double-figure’ bags, Man of the Match was Perrett with five codlings 11 lb 15 oz, his best 4 lb 1½ oz, and in second was Ebison with 10 lb ½ oz (4).

Heaviest Fish 4 lb 5½ oz fell to Rob ‘Tink’ Taylor, Whitby, which dragged his rod off his tripod, sliding down the slate towards the surf!

January’s catch: 91 fish for 134 lb 6 oz, Av 1 lb 8 oz, 56 codlings, 20 whitings, 12 rocklings, one wrasse, a billet and one dab.

Monthly Sweeps: HBoFish - Dave Perrett - 12 lb 7½ oz (6) - Sun 25th Jan, HFish - Jason Ebison - 6 lb 5 oz - Sun 25th Jan.

Sunday the Easterly dominated weather continued with similar conditions to Wednesday night bar fishing down to LWater, and no surging. Crystal clear waters, and a very bright ‘Snow moon’ were not good omens for fishing.

However, three ‘double-figure’ bags of fish graced the scales, getting February off to a good start - Jason Ebison, Whitby 15 lb 15 oz (5), Davey Turnbull, Darlington 13 lb 13½ oz (3), and Dave Ward, Guisborough 13 lb 7 oz (8).

From the 13 seniors and one junior a weigh-in 56 lb 1 oz, 30 codlings, two bleggs and two whitings.

Leaderboard: 1st - Brian Harland - 172 fish 133 lb 3 oz, 2nd - Dave Perrett - 97 fish 115 lb 3 oz, 3rd - Dave Ward - 141 fish 100 lb 15 oz, 4th - Davey Turnbull - 21 fish 71 lb 7 oz, 5th - Jason Ebison - 38 fish 70 lb 8 oz.
