Scarborough Gymnastics Academy stars net Team GB call-up

Five young Scarborough gymnasts have been selected to represent Great Britain at the European TeamGym Championships in Denmark later this year.

Scarborough Gymnastics Academy coach Nikii Walker said: “We are incredibly proud of this amazing achievement.

“The selected gymnasts are as follows, Joseph Fishburn, 19, Brodie Aziz, 16, Max Teasdale 16, Rory Sadler, 14, and Jacob Bland, who is also aged 14.

“Joseph has been selected for the Senior Men’s Team, Jacob, Rory and Max have been called up for the Junior Men’s Team and Brodie Aziz has been selected for the Junior Mixed Team.

“Everybody at the club is extremely proud of all their hard work, dedication and commitment to the sport and wishes them all lots of luck for the championships.

“It’s an honour to be chosen to be part of Team GB and such an amazing opportunity for them to represent Great Britain.”

Walker added: “The success is down to the support from SGA teammates, families and the clubs amazing coaches, who have guided them along the way.

"Thanks to everyone who is involved.

“We would also like to say how incredibly proud we are of Izzy Sharp, Emily Hunt and Damian Quinton, who were not selected for a team this time.

"You are all very talented gymnasts, and very important to the club. The time, effort and commitment you have given is second to none.

“Making it this far is such a brilliant achievement.

“We’re very lucky to have such fantastic gymnasts who are a true inspiration to everyone.”
