Scarborough’s Phoebe O’Brien and Mia Longman among the medals at top-class table tennis events

Young ​Scarborough table tennis stars Phoebe O’Brien and Mia Longman have been among the medals at two prestigious events.

Mia, 16, and Louis Fell, 17, were playing for Scarborough 6th Form College as the regional winners in the national college finals in Nottingham and 11-year-old Phoebe was in Cardiff selected for England in the Primary Schools International.

Both the Premier Club girls won bronze medals in the individual events at their competitions and then followed up with a gold for Phoebe and silver for Mia in their respective team events.

Their Premier Club coach Ashley Hodgson said: “I’m thrilled all the hard work is paying off and that the girls have the self-belief to compete as this level.

"They both have an unbelievable gritty determination to succeed and I’m delighted with their successes!”
