Senna Proctor sets sights on 2026 season after stunning BTCC return
2025 saw the return to the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) for local racing driver Senna Proctor after a three-year hiatus.
The 27-year-old from Rudston stepped back into the series for a part-season campaign with the aim to launch a bid for a full year in 2026.

His stunning performance in just seven rounds (21 races) certainly caused quite a stir. This resulted in a simply remarkable top 10 final championship standing.
A host of top six qualifying sessions and race finishes propelled Proctor to numerous podium finishes and also a hefty points contribution to the teams Manufacturer/Constructor title for Team Vertu . He also provided invaluable support for teammate Tom Ingram in his successful drivers’ championship win.

A particular highlight included his immediate impact at Oulton Park in Cheshire. A top 10 qualifying on the Saturday then hefty haul of points in all three races. All with no pre-season testing and a number of years away from the BTCC.
Up next was the high speed Thruxton race circuit, but in difficult conditions with torrential rain, poor visibility and areas of standing water. At the fastest circuit in the UK he again impressed with a top six qualifying session in the wet. He then performed well on the Sunday with another three races in the top 10 finishing places.
Early August and warm sunny weather at Knockhill in Scotland quickly followed and more of the same again from Senna. A strong qualifying time and then another huge haul of points from the Sunday races. All weekend the ‘DDK Intelligent Construction’ sponsored Hyundai was a firm fixture amongst the front running top cars.
The Donington GP meeting brought more points and Senna had by then certainly established himself as a force to be reckoned with in a 2025 touring car.

What must rank as one of Senna’s best race weekends ever was to then take place.
The local event at Croft in North Yorkshire produced a brace of podium finishes and the final race of the day was one of the standout performances by any driver throughout the season. Senna blasted through the field from 18th to third in his Team Vertu Hyundai i30N and to memorable podium celebrations with vocal local support in particularly high spirits.
The Silverstone meeting in late September secured more vital points as the BTCC headed to the conclusion of the season with all of the individual and teams completions still to be decided.
A dramatic season finale at Brands Hatch brought the 2025 season to a close on a high for the team and for Senna. Along with his teammate, and championship leader, Tom Ingram he was nominated to score points for the team. Together they raced superbly and this secured Senna his top 10 championship finish, Ingram his second drivers’ title and the Manufacturers/Constructor win for the team.

Speaking after the BTCC awards evening at Silverstone Senna Proctor said “After three years away I think I’ve confirmed I can qualify consistently well, challenge for podiums and wins and race competitively at the sharp end of the championship
”We are now firmly focussed on 2026 and a full race season with pre-season testing and keeping this momentum going. I’ve had some great local support and I want to say a big thank you for that. It has really been fantastic and I greatly appreciate it.
