Stainsacre runner Keith Hunter, 68, ready to tackle his first London Marathon
Sixty-eight-year-old Stainsacre runner Keith Hunter will be tackling his first London Marathon this Sunday.
Hunter said: “I am running the London Marathon this year along with another member of Whitby Running Club (WRC).

"I ran until I left school at 16 and only took up running again at 60 years old. In 2025 I joined WRC, who are a good friendly group of runners, to try and improve my running.
"My wife and daughter also run, we also run with Silverbacks trails who do friendly trail runs and organise their own races. Hardmoors races and Charm Bracelet races are other groups who organise trail races which are popular and friendly groups we race with.
"As for the London Marathon, I entered the London Marathon but didn't get a place. Whitby Running Club are affiliated to England Athletics and receive a place each year, I entered their ballot and was lucky enough to win this year's place. entered the ballot but didn't get in.
"So I will be running the marathon at 68 years old alongside fellow club member Sarah Marshall.
“Sarah is also running the London Marathon for the first time. After entering the ballot 12 times and receiving rejections each time she won the WRC ballot place for 2025 but had to defer due to injury and is now running it this year.
“Sarah is also a regular volunteer at the Cinder Track Parkrun.”
