Racing Ahead: Horses to keep an eye on

I must thank the readers who gave me some positive feedback from the couple of races I highlighted that produced a number of winners.

With that in mind, I have uncovered a further number of races to keep an eye on their runners, in the next couple of weeks.

The first race of note is the Class 3 three-year-old handicap at Sandown on 13 June over 7f. Grand Inquisitor won by three quarter-of-a-length from the Clive Cox-trained My Dream Boat in second.

The race has already produced five winners from just six runs.

Third place Go Dan Go has since won on two occasions at Carlisle for trainer Keith Dalgleish, while seventh placed Denzille Lane has completed a double at Newmarket and Beverley.

Flash Fire, who finished ninth of the 10 runners, some 22 lengths behind the winner, won at Sandown on Saturday for James Doyle as part of his double.

The five races won were in Class 3 or Class 4 contests and any runners taken from this race should only be followed in such grades.

The first two home will probably be tried at a higher level, but the likes of George Bowen, Bold and Classic Win should be interesting to monitor for their next couple of runs.

The wonderfully named Lewis Chisholm Stag 2015 Maiden Stakes run on the same date as the Sandown race has produced three winners from five runs.

Vale Of Paris, who won the race by one-and-a-half lengths has gone on to win at Wolverhampton over five furlongs at 6/4f, but, bombed last time out at Lingfield as an even money chance.

Third-placed Racing Angel and fourth, Balliol have both visited the winners enclosure, all three winners coming in class 5 or 6 contests.

Fifth-placed Zuzinia, trained by Mick Channon is now nought from 18 starts, but is at her lowest handicap rating of 64 having started the season on 73. The Mujadil filly may be worth a look if taking her chance in the 7.00 at Chepstow on Friday.

The Maiden Stakes at York over six furlongs for two-year-olds, has produced four winners from seven starts.

The one to take out of the race is, the winner that day, Sandahl, but the runner-up, Fast And Furious, has won a Class 5, Hamilton maiden, third-place Prince Helvelyn won a Class 6 maiden at Newcastle recently and William Haggas-trained Tasleet, who finished fourth, has won a Class 5 maiden at Chepstow since the York run, while Minaturist, who ‘trailed’ in fifth, won a Class 5 Sandown maiden on Friday.

It’s usually advisable to monitor the highlighted horses for the next two runs or next 30 days only as the importance of the lower class races lose their form in time.
