Scarborough Pirates player-coach Adam Lee has confirmed the club will be promoted to the Yorkshire Mens Premier League.

The Pirates stormed group one, only losing once all season and Lee believes they can have a similar impact on the top flight.

Lee said: “We’ve been in this division for two years and we’ve won it, it’s time for a new challenge. We’re very confident.

“We’ll be disappointed if we don’t finish in a play-off spot.

“The club’s morale is at an all-time high. Throughout both teams, the mood is fantastic. The lads have a great attitude and they certainly have the ability.”

Lee believes his side just need to up their fitness levels.

He added: “Pre-season will help the lads get to the level needed to compete in this league.”

“We hope to get a few younger players in. The older lads are already having a big impact on the players coming through. They’ve taken them under their wing and helped turn them into great players.

“It doesn’t matter that we’ve gone up a league, the ability never changes. It’s all about the fitness. To survive in the top flight you have to be fitter than everyone else and we’ll work hard in pre-season to get there.”

The player-coach concluded: “There is a fantastic attitude at the club and the fact we are Club of the Year shows that. During my time at the club the morale has never been higher.”
