Zac Metcalfe’s side make a long-awaited return to competitive home action on Saturday, when they host Bilton Bears at Hunmanby.

The Pirates started their competitive campaign on Saturday and put in a solid show in the loss against the experienced Three Tuns.

Pirates debutants Jordan Palliser and Jack Marr impressed throughout, the latter playing his first-ever rugby league game.

Toby Welsby scored the only try for the visitors as he made a brilliant solo run, dodging the opposition defenders to score.

Prop forward Callum Wright received man of the match after his impressive performance, leading the team from the front.

The Pirates fell to a 42-4 defeat and will look to bounce back on Saturday.

Pirates player Tom Read said: “We are learning every week how to play together and with a defeat like this we have to take the positives from it.

“It’s made the team realise just how hard we are going to have to work to be competitive.”
