Ben Foden's Scarborough RUFC team flying high at halfway stage of season

Scarborough RUFC head into 2026 flying high at the top of the Regional Two North East table after a positive end to the year that has seen them go on a run of five wins in a row.

Former England star Ben Foden’s side made an impressive start to the season and battled past Bradford Salem in the early September sunshine.

A double from Sam Dawson and tries for Nathaniel Baumann and Drew Govier gave Scarborough the best possible start to the season.

They then backed it up with a commanding win over Malton & Norton before travelling over to Moss Valley to pick up their third win of the campaign over Moortown.

The final game of September saw local rivals York visit Silver Royd in the Yorkshire Cup.

Despite putting up a strong fight, Scarborough had too much strength and ended up running out 44-24 winners with a flurry of late tries.

Early October saw Scarborough stretch their unbeaten league run to five games with a dominant win over Morley before battling past a spirited Old Crossleyans side.

Away from the result, the Silver Royd outfit were dealt a huge blow when influential scrum-half Jordan Wakeham suffered an injury at Broomfield Avenue.

This would coincide with a dip in form that saw Scarborough lose three consecutive games.

They were narrowly beaten by Pocklington, Selby and Old Brodleians.

But the losing run didn’t go on any further, as wins over Wetherby, struggling Doncaster Phoenix, Pontefract, a big win at Malton and a 48-33 victory over Moortown on Saturday December 20 helped propel Foden’s side back to the top of Regional Two North East.
