Due to a waterlogged pitch at Harrogate this Yorkshire 1 fixture was switched overnight to Percy Road, where conditions were ideal for some great running rugby; the return now being at Harrogate in February, writes Mark Fletcher.

Pocklington RUFC responded with an impressive performance; making few errors, controlling the set piece and creating space out wide to record seven tries, three of them coming from winger Jed Jackson on his return from an enforced concussion absence.

Pocklington opened the scoring inside five minutes, stealing a lineout on the left and quickly moving the ball right, fly-half Louis Sangwin's delayed pass creating space for centre Adam Ramsden to run in and score.

On 12 minutes winger Harry Matthews took a quick tap penalty and beat several defenders, before the ball was spun right for full-back Christian Pollock to sprint over.

At the end of the first quarter Jackson scored the first of his three-try haul, going in on the right following another midfield surge from Matthews; and on the half hour Jackson got his second and secured the bonus point after Pollock's blistering break from inside the Pock half, Pollock adding the extras to three of the four touchdowns.

Just on half time the visitors added to two earlier penalties, finishing off a good move for a converted try, making the interval score 26-13.

Jackson completed his hat-trick early in the second period, jinking his way to the corner.

And Pocklington's try of the match came on the hour when Ed Liversidge found himself in space 30 metres out and went route one, beating several defenders before side-stepping the last man and touching down by the posts.

Pythons added a second converted try to their tally before flanker Will Sayer ran in Pocklington's seventh try, Pollock kicking his third conversion of the half.

Having lost three players to yellow cards, Pocklington spent the last eight minutes frantically defending their own line with 12 men, their resolute efforts being enough to keep out repeated visitor attacks with game ending 47-23.
