Ratcliffe laughs off Girking's comments

Scarborough RUFC skipper Tom Ratcliffe has laughed off pre-match comments made by East Coast rivals Bridlington's skipper Ryan Girking leading into Saturday's derby clash at Silver Royd.

Brid skipper Girking told The Bridlington Free Press: “I think that if we play to half of our potential, we should beat them again.”

Ratcliffe has dismissed Girking’s claims and says it’ll spur the home side on.

He said: “The lads have seen it and I have no doubt it’ll fire them up and make my job easier on Saturday.

“They (Girking’s comments) made me laugh really.

“People can talk all they want, we try to do our talking on the pitch and we’ll do just that on Saturday.

“We’re full of confidence and if we play anywhere near our best I can’t see anything but a win for us.”
