The game was split into four 20-minute periods, and was a closely fought contest that went down to the wire

Scarborough started brightly and had the first attacking opportunities, but Malton came back into it and took the lead midway through the first period with a try in the corner, the conversion being missed.

Scarborough picked up a yellow early in the second quarter but kept the visitors pinned deep in their own half, but Malton slowly took control back and ended the period on top.

The away side extended their lead in the third period going over under the posts, with the conversion added this time to put them 12-0 up.

Scarborough continued to press and a break by Aaron Wilson looked like it would result in a try only for a wayward pass to end the attack.

Tom Harrison got Scarborough on the scoresheet chipping over the last defender and winning the race to the ball. He then converted to pull it back to 12-7.

Malton extended their league with a penalty try before Scarborough hit back with an unconverted try to leave the final score at 19-12.
