Her side were beginning to take shape ahead of the new season, but the coronavirus pandemic has meant that any plans were put on hold.

She said: “We’ve had really good numbers in pre-season and we began looking at implementing different drills so it’s extremely frustrating that we can’t play any games.

“The plans were to get promoted into a different league and start building the squad so that we were best prepared to win games.

“All our plans are on hold at the minute, we’ve got friendlies lined up and the league is still in place so there are goals at the finish line but it’s whether we can get there that’s the problem.”

Knight has been impressed by the attitudes of the players and is confident that they will hit the ground running when rugby returns.

“All of us are really wanting to get onto the pitch and put into practice what we’ve been working on in training,” she added.

“We’re in really testing times and some of the girls work at the hospital, so they’ve had to be really careful with training but the work that they are doing is amazing.

“The girls are eager to get back out there and hopefully it won’t be too long before we can join up again as a squad.”

The past few months have been difficult for everyone, and Knight is hoping that new players might join her squad in a bid to improve their mental and physical health.

“We’re always looking for new players and everyone is welcome to come down to training,” added Knight.

“The girls are amazing and our plans will be to promote on Instagram and Facebook in the coming weeks to attract new players to Silver Royd.

“We have quite a lot of content on our social media pages and obviously if anyone has any questions then please don’t hesitate to get in touch.”
