For the Mixed B team, Maaike Karremans and Rob Tucker continued to develop what is becoming a formidable partnership.

The pair claimed all three of their rubbers while conceding just two games throughout the evening.

Steph Pride and Lee Kennedy were playing together for the first time and immediately found their rhythm, also collecting a maximum three points.

Lauren Asquith and Nathan Smith completed the clean sweep to seal an excellent night for the visitors.

The Mixed A side matched that achievement with a 9-0 success of their own.

Magda Phillips and Alex Wray made a strong start and grew in confidence as the evening progressed, taking all three of their matches.

Louise Tomlinson and Jack Boddy recovered from a slower opening to finish strongly and also recorded a maximum haul.

Cath Reid and Rich Stacey were making their debut as a partnership and were quickly given a test.

After racing into a 3-1 lead in their opening rubber, they were pegged back to 4-4 before finding another gear to pull away and win 8-4.

The pair carried that momentum into the remainder of the evening, completing a clean sweep and helping Scalby secure the perfect team result.

On Wednesday evening, Scalby’s Ladies team welcomed Driffield LTC, looking for a confidence-boosting result, and they duly delivered with an emphatic 8-1 victory.

The team featured Maaike Karremans and captain Louise Tomlinson, Helen Neal and Julie Boddy, and Magda Phillips alongside Liberty Ingham.

Neal and Boddy contributed two valuable points, while Tomlinson and Karremans were unbeaten across their three rubbers.

The standout performance of the night came from Ingham and Phillips. Playing together for the first time, the pair combined impressively, with Ingham’s strong groundstrokes and positive net play complementing Phillips’ experience and consistency. Their maximum three points helped complete an excellent evening for the home side.

The week concluded with the Men’s A team suffering their first defeat of the season at Beverley ER.

An injury to one of the Beverley players handed Scalby two points, but opportunities proved hard to come by against strong opposition.

Mark Whitlegg, making his return from injury, and Rich Stacey were the only Scalby pair able to add to the visitors’ tally as Beverley secured a 6-3 victory.

Despite the setback, the Men’s A side remains in a strong position.

With two matches still to play, one more victory should be enough to secure promotion and cap an excellent season for the team.
