Scarborough angler Andy snaps up Filey Fishing Festival win

Andy Crowe bagged top spot in the second event of the 92nd annual Filey Fishing Festival, the Filey Open Codling Challenge shore match.

Scarborough angler Crowe netted a superb 29lb 8drm haul, almost double the weight of second-placed Brian Harland, from Whitby, who finished with 14-8-4.

Ann Colling of Filey Brigg Angling Society, said: “Sunday’s entries were up again, this time by 24. The festival is well and truly off to a good start.

“Quite a lot of fish have been brought to the scales so far, with cod being prolific.

“We have had a few juvenile anglers take part over the weekend but would like to see more ladies entering the matches.”
