Scotter returns with to action with Filatov success
Scarborough's Jamie Scotter returned to the ring with a solid four-round shut out of rough and ready Estonian Pjotr Filatov at Hull City Hall tonight.
Scotter was making his first appearance in the ring since December 2016 and looked eager to impress his travelling fans in the first round as he lunged in looking for the early showreel stoppage.
A clash of heads landed Scotter a nasty looking cut above his left eye that required attention at the end of a scrappy first round.
The Scarborough man relaxed in the second and picked his shots superbly, utilising his impressive left hook to good effect.
Filatov was visibly tiring and Scotter looked to have him on the brink in the third round when he wobbled him with an accurate right hand which he followed up with another thudding left hook.
The Estonian was game though and weathered the storm before letting his hands go at the end of the round.
Another piercing left hook and straight right had Filatov on shaky legs again in the fourth and final round, but the Estonian managed to spoil Scotter's work and hold on to hear the final bell.
Referee Howard Foster handed Scotter all four rounds and a 40-36 win.
