Racing starts at 2pm with the PPORA Club Members race for Veteran and Novice riders.

Sean Murray’s Opera Og is likely to take all the beating here, having won last time out at the Hurworth meeting and coming second on his two previous starts, one of which was at this course in Open company.

Oaklands Bobby could provide the main challenge from Alice Petch and is another who has gone well at this course previously.

Only seven have been entered for the restricted race, but the runners seem to turn up.

Totom Chief is likely to take part for Guy Brewer, he said: “I think he will have improved from his last run as he’s a bit lazy. The drier the ground, the better he will like it.”

Lortzing won his maiden here and could also go close.

If Palypso De Creek turns up for the mixed open he will take all the beating, however he is also entered in a hunter chase on Sunday.

Killary Bay could line up if he doesn’t take part in the Grimthrope on Saturday.

This looks quite a step up in class for Oh So Serious who won his restricted race last week but he does seem to like this course.

Renegotiate is another who is likely to take part, was in good heart when unseating at the 15th fence at Askham Bryan on Sunday and could be in the frame.

In the Confined, Impact Zone will probably run.

“He’ll need the run,” warned Joanna Mason, having pulled up at Brocklesby at the beginning of March.

Larkhall is also entered in a novice hunter chase at Sedgefield the day before this although the Confined is likely to be an easier option. If either of Lady Susan Watson’s pair, Carlicue or Hand Act or Part don’t take part at the Middleton then one of these could go very close.

There are two Maiden races, the first is an Open Maiden, Devil At Midnight was second here in March and could take all the beating.

He likes to front run and is likely to set a strong pace. On Vacation ran a great race at Askham Bryan to come second and the race could largely be between these two.

The final Maiden is for horses that have not been placed in any race and has attracted 15 entries.

It has encouraged several debutants, but could go the way of one of those with a bit more experience.

Quinto was fourth at the Sinnington meeting and if he can keep his jumping together will take all the beating.

Chilledbychoice steps back to Maiden company, having had a couple of runs at restricted level and is likely to be more in his comfort zone here. “We’ll more than likely go for this,” said trainer Jeannie Brown.

The debutants should be watched in the market for clues of how they are working at home.

Admission to the course is £10 per person with under-16s free and the postcode for satellite navigation is YO13 9QU. There will be home-made food on sale along with a licensed bar.
