Aldcroft, who now attends Hartpury College and plays club rugby for Gloucester, started on the wing for England as they suffered a 25-0 defeat to a more experienced and physically imposing France side at Bordeaux’s Stade Saint Germaine.

The former Scarborough mini started out of position on the wing before moving to her more familiar role at full-back.

The 18-year-old said: “It was a tough game as they were stronger and have been together longer than us.

“I didn’t get much of the ball as the weather wasn’t great and the forwards were busy.

“I was quite nervous going into the game but hopefully I did enough to stay in the team.

“I’d like to play for the senior England team at some point, that’s the aim anyway.”
