Sax player Ben Lowman at the Cask for Scarborough Jazz

The first solo appearance at Scarborough Jazz of saxophonist Ben Lowman is at The Cask on Wednesday March 9.

Ben is an in-demand saxophonist, flautist and clarinetist based in the north of England.  He started playing the saxophone at the age of 10 and studied in various ensembles through his school years.

During his continued education at Leeds College of Music, Ben studied alongside renowned performers and educators including Joel Purnell, Jim Corry, Jamie Taylor, Mark Donlon and Kathy Dyson.

As well as performing with other ensembles, Ben also arranges nd composes music for his own bands, including RHL Trio and Ben Lowman’s Django Project. His performances with his gypsy jazz group have been reviewed with great acclaim by artists including Martin Taylor and Corrine Bailey Rae. The Mike Gordon Trio will back Ben. Music starts at 8.45pm
