The final first round matches of ‘The Last Time is Now’ tournament are set to conclude on this evening’s episode of SmackDown

  • Finn Balor, Penta, Bronson Reed and Carmelo Hayes are all vying to reach the next round of ‘The Last Time is Now’ tournament this evening.
  • Chelsea Green’s “grand” title inauguration is also set to take place - whatever Nick Aldis has planned for it, anyway.
  • Here’s your preview of this evening’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, including UK star time.

We are one week away from Survivor Series: WarGames, and the final pieces of your men’s teams have officially been confirmed, after two seismic shock returns that took place on Monday Night Raw earlier this week.

‘The Beast Incarnate,’ Brock Lesnar, made his return to the WWE and signalled his intentions immediately by attacking CM Punk. He then officially joined The Vision’s Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, and their WarGames partners Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul, completing their five-man army.

But the WWE Universe's prayers were answered: not moments after Lesnar’s side celebrated, the unmistakable anthem of one Tribal Chief started playing through the arena.

Cue Roman Reigns returning, looking like he’s joining the "good guy" side (faces) as he immediately started attacking Lesnar, Team Vision, and pretty much anyone who got in his path.

This means a newly formed, uneasy alliance of Team Cody Rhodes/CM Punk will now face Team Lesnar/McIntyre inside the WarGames cage.

Will Cody address the shock return of Roman Reigns and his uneasy alliance against the Brock Lesnar/The Vision faction? Or will the 'American Nightmare' be distracted into a non-essential match just one week before the WarGames main event?

This appearance, alongside Tiffany Stratton’s scheduled appearance, is only one of the night's biggest talking point.

What time is WWE Friday Night SmackDown starting in the UK tonight?

It’s another late night for UK fans of the WWE - Netflix will once again be screening WWE Friday Night SmackDown live from 1am GMT on November 22. On-demand repeats of the show will be available to stream shortly after its initial broadcast.

What has been announced so far for this evening’s episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown?

Alongside the weekly US Championship open, in which current champion Ilja Dragunov invites any member of the WWE roster to challenge him for the championship, the following matches have been confirmed so far for this evening’s show:

The Last Time is Now Tournament: Finn Balor v Penta

This is an opening-round match in the tournament to determine the final opponent for John Cena's second-to-last career match for the Intercontinental Championship.

Finn Bálor has a chance to earn another shot at Cena (who previously defeated him in 2018). This is a rare crossover battle between the veteran Raw Superstar (Bálor) and the masked Blue Brand competitor (Penta).

The winner will join the other tournament quarterfinalists, Gunther, Sheamus, Rusev, LA Knight, Jey Uso, and Solo Sikoa.

The Last Time is Now Tournament: Bronson Reed v Carmelo Hayes

The second of two opening-round matches to fill the final spots in the tournament quarterfinals.

Bronson Reed is carrying major momentum following his huge win over Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel. A win here would cap his breakout year by moving him closer to retiring the 'Greatest of All-Time.' However, Carmelo Hayes, now free from The Miz, is looking to prove he is a main event star and remind the world that 'Melo don't miss and he is HIM.'

This match is set to be a classic power vs. speed contest.

Fraxiom v DIY

A tag team rematch sparked by personal frustration and a title feud that has excluded one competitor.

Tommaso Ciampa is the driving force, increasingly furious that Men's United States Champion Ilja Dragunov is refusing him a title shot. Ciampa took out his frustration by attacking Axiom last week.

This is the direct fallout from Ciampa's attack, setting up a grudge match where the veteran team of #DIY takes on the dynamic duo of Nathan Frazer and Axiom (Fraxiom).

Women’s United States Championship Inauguration

General Manager Nick Aldis must stage a "grand inauguration" for Chelsea Green to celebrate her becoming the first-ever two-time Women's United States Champion.

Green has publicly demanded that Aldis not "skimp on the pyrotechnics," adding pressure to the General Manager to meet her extravagant, high-maintenance demands.

What matches are currently scheduled for WWE Survivor Series: WarGames?

Despite two more shows set to take place before next week’s big PLE, the card for WWE Survivor Series: WarGames is already looking stacked.

Expect more matches to be announced, but as of writing, here’s what has been announced so far for next weekend’s event:

  • Men’s WarGames Match: CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, Jimmy and Jey Uso and Roman Reigns v The Vision (Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed), Logan Paul, Drew McIntyre and Brock Lesnar
  • Women’s WarGames Match: Rhea Ripley, IYO SKY, Alexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair and TBA v Nia Jax, Lash Legend, The Kabuki Warriors (ASUKA and Kairi Sane) and TBA.
  • WWE Intercontinental Championship: John Cena (c) v Dominik Mysterio
  • WWE Women’s World Championship: Stephanie Vaquer (c) v Nikke Bella

As always, the card is subject to change - meaning that some matches may be changed ahead of next week’s PLE.
