Whilst of course people can propose to each other whenever they like, here are some romantic spots around the town for those thinking of sticking with tradition this weekend.
5. Brompton church
For literature fans, Brompton church is where the poet William Wordsworth was married to Mary Hutchinson in 1802 and at this time of year daffodils are appearing in the churchyard. Photo: Richard Ponter
6. St Laurences, Scalby
St Laurences Church in Scalby is at the heart of the village and is a beautiful setting to ask someone to marry you.
7. Olivers Mount lookout
You get one of the best views of Scarborough from the top of Olivers Mount - providing a dramatic backdrop for a proposal.
8. Scarborough Castle
If history and great views are the interests of your partner, Scarborough Castle has them both on offer and would make a great place for a proposal. Photo: Bruce Rollinson
