Theatre to showcase Into The Woods Jr at St Johns Burlington
Get ready to go deep Into The Woods when a youth theatre group delivers a production in Bridlington.
ARCADE’s youth theatre will present Into the Woods Jr on Saturday, November 14 and Wednesday, November 18 at 7:30pm in St Johns Burlington Methodist Church (next to Aldi on St John Street).
The show is directed by Alice Kynman, a musician and theatre professional. Alice has spent the last decade shaping the start of hundreds of young people’s creative careers through her work at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough.
The theatre is produced by ARCADE, a community producing company and registered charity based in Scarborough and Bridlington.
The group runs during term time on Wednesday evenings from 6.30pm to 8.30pm and is for any young person aged between 12-18.
A spokesperson said: “Be careful what you wish for as Stephen Sondheim’s and James Lapine’s cockeyed fairytale comes to life in this adaptation of their groundbreaking, Tony Award-winning musical.
“Into the Woods JR features all of your favorite characters – Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (and his beanstalk) and the Witch in this lyrically rich retelling of classic Brothers Grimm fables.
“The musical follows a Baker and his wife who learn they've been cursed with childlessness by the Witch next door.
“The couple embarks on a quest – swindling, deceiving and stealing from such characters as Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and Jack (fresh off the beanstalk!) – to get the special objects required to break the spell.”
Tickets for the show, £6.50 for adults and £4.50 for children (plus a small booking fee) are available at https://www.ticketsource.com/arcade-arts/into-the-woods-jr/e-mvjgdd or tinyurl.com/kwjn64dj.
