Bid to create more parking spaces at Bridlington Aldi gets the green light

A Bridlington supermarket’s bid to create 30 more parking spaces for customers has been given the go-ahead by East Riding of Yorkshire Council planners.

The plans, for the Aldi store on St John Street, will see the site’s parking spaces increase to 108 parking spaces overall, up from 78.

The work will also see an extra trolley shelter installed at the site.

The application was for the “Construction of a car park, erection of 2.0m high acoustic and timber fencing and landscaping in association with adjacent Aldi Food Store following demolition of existing industrial building and construction of gable wall with insulated render to existing building”.

A design and access statement on behalf of the proposal by the Harris Partnership said: “The proposed scheme includes the demolition of the existing industrial buildings, removal of the existing boundary fences between the industrial site and Aldi car park.

“A new section of car park will be constructed, along with an additional trolley shelter.

“In its current state the car park provides 78 parking spaces and at peak times, is often full, as such it is the applicants desire to provide more parking in order to give a better customer experience.

“Currently the car park has 78 parking spaces and the proposal will deliver 30 additional spaces, taking the total to 108 parking spaces overall.”

The proposal was given the green light subject to certain conditions.
