Whitby Cornish Bakery store in historic Church Street enjoys new look after refurbishment
The Cornish Bakery store on Whitby’s Church Street has unveiled its new look to customers following a recent refurbishment.
The bakery temporarily closed on Sunday November 16 and reopened on Tuesday November 25, revealing an elevated and stylish new look.

Cornish Bakery has two bakeries in Whitby.
Via its Marine Parade and Church Street bakeries, it provides employment for more than 18 local people year-round, with those from the Church Street bakery having undergone retraining over the closure period.
The bakery’s exterior remains unchanged, having been recently transformed into a Sulking Room Pink, a Farrow & Ball shade.
The refreshed interior includes new loose furniture, bar seating along an extended marble sill, updated artwork, and natural timber display shelves across the coffee counter.
The space has been brightened with new wall finishes, menu boards, and refined material details that align with The Cornish Bakery’s look and feel.
The refurbishment retains many original elements, such as the existing timber floor and bakery window display, blending heritage with a modern touch.
A focal point is the bakery’s open kitchen, where guests can watch the team mixing, kneading, and baking throughout the day.
Cornish Bakery’s managing director, Mat Finch said, “We’re incredibly proud to have not just one, but two Cornish Bakeries here in Whitby.
"Our continued investment here reflects how much we value Whitby and its community.
"Although after all this time here, a full revamp was required, given that our brand has changed significantly, our product range has evolved into a more fulsome bakery experience and coffee has become our best seller.”
The bakery is dog-friendly, open seven days a week from 8am to 5pm.
