Future of Flamborough Flowerpot Festival secure after social media campaign
The future of Flamborough Flowerpot Festival looks secure after a concerted effort to bolster the event’s organising committee.
Following the resignation of many of the founding festival committee members in November last year, the future of a 2026 event was looking very unlikely.

However, after a social media and letterbox mailing campaign, along with a series of posters, enough people have signed up to help run the popular event.
Following a meeting this week, a new committee was elected and it will be hosting an event on Tuesday, January 20 at 6.30pm.

The team is welcoming any local resident over 18 to come along to the village hall to find out what is planned, and how they can help if they want to get involved.
Julie Sanders, outgoing FFPF committee chairperson, said: “In December and early January, a huge effort was made via social media, letterbox mailing, and posters to attract local residents to come forward and attend a meeting on Tuesday, January 13 if they wanted to save the flowerpot festival.
“The good news is that a new committee was elected and that there will be a Flamborough Flowerpot Festival in 2026!”
The Flamborough Flowerpot Festival takes place throughout June, with residents creating wonderful POTTY creations for visitors to enjoy.
As well as entertaining visitors, the festival raises vital funds for charities in the area.
Last year’s popular event, which ran throughout June, accrued £1,500 from the sale of flower pot trail maps and various festival memorabilia.
After the funds were counted, the committee agreed to award six groups with amounts from £350 to £100.
These groups were Flamborough First Brownies, Flamborough Bowls Club, Flamborough Village Hall, Friends of Flamborough School, Flamborough School Little Sprouts Gardening Group, and Flamborough Flippers Sea Swimming Group.
