Market horror: Shoppers left terrified after Ghostbusters find tiny woman and whiff of whisky in market vaults

Shoppers got more than they bargained for when they stepped into the spooky shadows of Scarborough Market Vaults after hours, only to find the place crawling with something far creepier than a bargain bin—real-life ghosts!
The terrifying investigation, a spine-chilling collaboration between the town's legendary Black Widow Tours and paranormal experts Ghostboy Investigations, was set up to give brave members of the public an experience they’d never forget. And they certainly delivered!
It’s been the talk of the town that the historic vaults, located next to the site of the old friarage, are haunted by a grumpy, drunk monk. But according to the ghost hunters, the truth is far more sinister!
Liah, the woman behind the terrifying Black Widow Tours, brought her group to the vaults after dark. Once inside, Ghostboy Investigators James Koppert, Matthew Cooper, and psychic medium Pamela Hayward started showing off their high-tech ghost-hunting gadgets.

Investigator Matt Cooper revealed the shock finding: "We all know the stories of the vaults being haunted by a drunk monk. But there was no intelligent communication from him."
Things escalated fast! James Koppert, host of The Fortean News Podcast, saw something that made his blood run cold.
"I thought I saw a tiny woman," he gasped. "But when I shone my torch, it was just an empty area in a shop stall! Immediately after, many of us heard a woman talking when there was no one there!"
"This contradicts the idea of it just being haunted by a monk!" he declared.

The investigators also experienced a wave of bizarre phenomena:
- Sudden Vertigo: Both investigation groups felt crippling dizziness in one area—without communicating it to each other!
- Whiff of Booze: Strong smells of whisky suddenly appeared and vanished, matching the history of barrels once stored there.
- Poltergeist Playtime: Equipment was inexplicably moved, a true sign of unexplained activity that sent Matt Cooper into a frenzy of excitement!
The spirits were clearly playing games with the Ghostbusters. Matt added: "We were getting hits on our EMF reader [ElectroMagnetic Field] near no power source, but in typical trickster style, it was winding us up and not communicating when we asked it to. It was just showing off!"
Medium Pamela Hayward backed up the spine-tingling findings, reporting sudden cold spots, a strong feeling of being watched, and clear tapping responses to their questions.
Looks like the market vaults are home to a whole cast of ghostly characters—and the drunk monk might just have some spooky neighbours!
