New town councillor Ryan welcomed to team after by-election win
Bridlington Town Council has welcomed new member Ryan Witchell following his by-election victory on Thursday, October 29
Conservative Party candidate Mr Witchell will serve on the council after winning the vacant Bridlington North ward seat.

In a statement, the council said: “We would like to congratulate and welcome Ryan Witchell on being elected to Bridlington Town Council as a North Ward representative. Councillors’ and staff all look forward to working with you.”
Mr Witchell said: “I’m honoured and humbled that the people of Bridlington North have put their trust in me as their new councillor.
“Thank you to everyone who voted and to everyone who gave their time to help with the positive campaign. I would also like to thank the other candidates, Ian Jobson and Tim Holden, for a well fought election.
“I moved to Bridlington several years ago and fell in love with the town, its coastline and community spirit.
“Teaching at Bridlington School showed me how much talent and potential there is in our town and how much it matters that local services work for the people who rely on them. I’ll be hitting the ground running, working closely with the town council to make sure local voices are heard.
“Although I was elected as a Conservative councillor, I’m here to represent everyone in Bridlington North. I will work with councillors from all parties and none, because the issues that matter to residents don’t come with a party label.”
Bridlington and the Wolds MP Charlie Dewhirst also congratulated Mr Witchell.
He said: “Huge congratulations to Ryan Witchell. Thoroughly deserved and he will no doubt serve local residents with energy and enthusiasm.”
The by-election was held after the death of former councillor Cyril Marsburg.
