Last week we shared memories of the 1970s, and this week we’ve flashed forward a decade. In the 80s Marvels, Waterscene, Kinderland and World of Holograms arrived in town. Some proved more elusive than others, and we struggled to find pictures - if you have any photos you’d like to add to our archive, contact us at [email protected].
9. World of Holograms
Found upstairs in Jimmy Corrigans arcade, this attraction arrived the same year as Kinderland - 1985. It boasted a collection of optical illusions live performances also took place there.
10. Champers
Another tricky one to find photos of, this was one of the places to go out in the 80s, located in the Balmoral Centre, pictured. Even under 18s could get in on the action at the 14-18 teen disco night on Fridays.
11. South Bay Pool
This didnt close until the end of the decade in 1989 so there was plenty of days spent diving into the pool looking out over the South Bay.
12. Kinderland
You were here to witness the opening of one of Scarboroughs most-loved childrens attractions - Kinderland in 1985. Birthday parties, school trips, days out with brownies and scouts, many were spent here.
