These 16 photos from our archive give a glimpse into the towns’ past from the 60s, 70s and 80s. Some streets still look largely the same and others have changed almost beyond recognition. Which of these sights do you recognise? For other trips down memory lane see our photos of Falsgrave Road and Bar Street from years gone by.
1. North Street
This picture from 1976 really shows how much Scarborough town centre has changed. Looking down North Street towards Westborough - today the left hand side of this picture is where Matalan and TK Max are.
2. Columbus Ravine
In 1986 Wallace Arnold tours were based on Columbus Ravine. This building is now the Coop funeral directors.
3. Loders Green
In this aerial photo you can see the start of Scarborough Business Park opposite Loders Green in Eastfield. The DVLA test centre can be seen on the left hand side and the building that is now Bookers Wholesale is on the right.
4. Hanover Road
The buildings on Hanover Road may still be recognisable but the businesses have moved on since this picture was taken in 1987.
