Cheerleading star Bayley Scott earns European Championship glory

Bayley attends South Tyneside Jets near Sunderland twice a week.

She represented her Jets team, Lunar, in Barcelona at the European Championships, where they won and hit zero, meaning that the team made no errors, so she is now part of the European Champions team.

Her team finished the season on a high, being named grand champions with the highest points in the entire section at the Energy Nationals in Glasgow, winning national champion rings.

She also placed in the top 10 with her other team, Aurora, at the All Star World Championships in Florida earlier this year.

The Jets team completed Day 1 as joint winners out of 96 teams winning an all-star bracelet and on Day 2 were the only UK team in the top 10, finally finishing in seventh place out of 40 teams.

Her younger sister Lena also competed in Under-10 prep level 1 in Newcastle, Blackpool, and Glasgow, placing third twice and sixth in her first season with the Jets.

Proud parents Mike and Lynsey said: “Bayley started her cheerleading career at a young age with Scarborough-based cheerleading team East Coast Tigers then moved to Tyneside Jets with help from local cheerleading coach Josanne Heath from Friday Night Tumbling.

“As well as attending cheerleading training at the Tyneside-based club twice a week, she also attends Exley’s Dance Studio in Scarborough, and has also been picked to attend a prestigious dance studio in Leeds, Sam Stanley.

“She hopes to move up to a harder group next year and attend the European Championships and the World Championships in Florida again.

“If anyone wants to start cheer then the best place to start is Friday Night Tumbling with Josanne Heath on Melrose Street where you will also see Bayley on that evening.”

They added: “Bayley would like to thank all of her coaches who made this possible and pushed her to the next level.”
