UPDATE: Armed police make arrest in Scarborough after reports of man carrying a gun

A man arrested after armed police swooped on a Scarborough street has been released while enquiries continue.

Armed officers were called to the town just after 4.30pm on Wednesday after reports of a man walking down a street holding a gun.

Officers attended a property on Albion Road where they found a BB gun.

Armed police were deployed.

A man was arrested and taken into police custody. He has since been released under investigation while the police's enquiries continue.

Anyone with information about the incident should call police via 101.
