Firefighters tackle combine harvester blaze, Goathland campfire and Oliver's Mount grass fire
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews responded to a series of incidents across the Yorkshire coast last night (July 13) and in the early hours of this morning (July 14).
On Tuesday evening, firefighters from Pickering and Helmsley were called at 9.01pm to a combine harvester on fire in a field of standing crops between Kirkbymoorside and Pickering.

The fire was contained to the harvester and crews wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the blaze using hose reel jets. Water was supplied via a relay from the nearest available hydrant.
Firefighters also used hydraulic spreaders to gain access to the machine's grain storage area so that remaining hotspots could be fully dampened down before the incident was left with the responsible person.
Later that evening, at 10.36pm, crews from Goathland and Whitby attended reports of people having a campfire in Goathland.
Due to strong winds causing embers to blow towards nearby moorland, firefighters extinguished the campfire using a bucket of water and checked the area thoroughly to ensure no hotspots remained.
In the early hours of Wednesday morning, at 3.59am, a crew from Scarborough was called to reports of smoke in the vicinity of Oliver's Mount.
Firefighters searched the area on foot using a knapsack sprayer and discovered a smouldering grass fire measuring approximately 15 metres by one metre.
Crews quickly extinguished the fire and believed it was started deliberately.
