Scarborough RNLI rescues drifting boat after dual engine failure
Scarborough RNLI were tasked on Sunday morning (October 18) to assist a vessel after its engine failed.
Following a routine training exercise, Scarborough RNLI's volunteer inshore lifeboat (ILB) crew were tasked to assist a pleasure craft in South Bay after it suffered dual engine failure and was left drifting.

The ILB launched promptly and made its way to the casualty vessel.
Once on scene, the volunteer crew secured the craft and established a tow.
The vessel was then safely towed back to Scarborough Harbour.
After completing the tow and ensuring the vessel was safely alongside, the ILB returned to the lifeboat station where it was recovered, washed down, refuelled and made ready for service.
A Scarborough RNLI spokesperson said: “The incident highlights the importance of carrying suitable means of communication and seeking assistance early if difficulties arise while afloat.”
