New member Dave Sayers and Davey Turnbull were the top anglers in the WSAA League matches over the past week.

On Wednesday we fished a mirror flat sea, all ebb three-hour evening match.

SSWesterly winds were gusting 30+mph by match end.

Just four seniors, and two juniors had a very meagre weigh-in, 10 rocklings, a codling and a flounder for 4 lb 10 oz, giving a 6 oz Av fish.

A reflection on the poor sea state, a good blow is desperately needed.

Man of the Match was Dave Sayers, Skinningrove, with five rocklings 1 lb 14½ oz.

Heaviest Fish, 14 oz, a codling fell to Dave Ward, Guisborough.

This is laying claim to the presentation night Wooden Spoon for Lightest Fish to Win Heaviest Fish of the night.

Sunday saw a welcome break in the weather, a cold snap, NEasterly winds 10°C, and some welcome close to shore Northerly swell 2-3ft for the all-flood four-hour evening match.

Minimal cloud cover, and a chance for some star gazing to pass the time!

Swell sets were irregular, no strength to keep-up with the flood, leading to periods of calm.

The colour had completely dropped-out. Weed was both evident on the shoreline and in the surf.

Bites were very few and far between, reflected in the poor weigh-in for a 4hr match

Of the 16 seniors and 3 juniors, 11 seniors had a weigh-in - eight codlings, seven rocklings, two flounders and one 1 billet for just 21 lb 2 oz.

Man of the Match was Davey Turnbull, Darlington, with two codlings 5 lb 9½ oz which included Heaviest Fish of the night 2 lb 14 oz.
