Some of our old buildings echo the great days of the town as a resort that stood out from the rest. Of course, we still are a great resort (and place to live), we still attract tens of thousands of visitors, and misty-eyed nostalgia shouldn't stand in the way of progress. We have, for example, an excellent sports village that has replaced the old facilities. There are proposals to build flats for students and NHS staff on the site of the old Argos building. But those old buildings blight the landscape. These photos don't include the many derelict commercial properties around town. The pandemic notwithstanding, progress is painfully slow. You can see great memories of the indoor pool HERE.
