Letter: Sherburn Youth Club closes its doors for final time

It is with deep regret that Sherburn Youth Club has now closed.

Sherburn Youth Club has closed after six years.

For six years, with the help and hard work of committed leaders, we have been able to provide such a successful youth club for the children and young people not only from Sherburn but surrounding areas.

However, over the past few months we have experienced difficulties with staffing and after numerous pleas for help we sadly still had to manage with only four leaders. Our session days had to change to enable us to staff accordingly, this proved unsuccessful.

The numbers have dropped significantly, often with only three to four children attending sessions, sometimes no children attended.

We are saddened at this decision as we have worked so hard over the years to do our very best at all times for the children. We feel we have no alternative but to close.

We would like to thank those children and parents who have over the years supported us, to Sherburn Parish Council and Sherburn Village Hall Committee who have continually supported our efforts.

But the biggest thanks must go to the leaders, without whose hard work and dedication the village of Sherburn wouldn’t have had such a great youth club. Well done and thank you to each and everyone of you.
