Danby Players launches new drama group to nurture young talent
Following the outstanding success of ‘Annie Get Your Gun’, which saw stand out performances from the younger members of the cast, Danby Players is set to launch a new musical theatre group aimed at nurturing the talent of youngsters in the Esk Valley.
Danby Young Players will be led by Riffs Hooks and Lines director Lizzie Jeeves, a drama teacher with over 15 years experience, who took the title role in the recent production of ‘Annie Get Your Gun’.
Lizzie said: “There is such talent in the Esk Valley, we see it all the time through the fantastic school productions, choirs and arts festivals.
“But there hasn't been a specific Musical Theatre group for young people in some time.
“Danby Players and Riffs Hooks and Lines are thrilled to be opening their youth section to bridge this gap.”
Danby Young Players first order of business will be to produce a showcase production featuring music from much loved shows including The Sound of Music, High School Musical, Matilda and Annie in November.
There will be a chance for young actors to learn script from the shows and for dancers to demonstrate their talents too.
Danby Young Players, which is open to children aged eight and over, launches on Tuesday, September 1, at Danby Village Hall.
