A new defibrillator has been installed at The Green Lane Centre in Whitby.

Linda Ferguson of Green Lane Community Connections group said: “It was highlighted to me that living off Green Lane, our nearest defibrillator was either at Parkol on Church Street or at Whitby Brewery, near the abbey.

"In an emergency, it’s quite a long way to go and fetch it to assist anyone on Green Lane, The Ropery, St Mary’s Crescent or Captain Cook Crescent, the centre itself or the allotments.”

Along with some of her colleagues from Whitby Group Practice, Linda took part in the Whitby Lions’ colour run to raise funds towards the running costs of the defibrillator, while the Lions and Whitby Defibrillator Project paid for its installation at the Green Lane Centre.
