Runners take on the Yorkshire Coast 10K to support music in Scarborough schools
A team of ten runners is taking on Scarborough's Yorkshire Coast 10K on Sunday October 11 to raise vital funds for music in Scarborough schools.
The team, called Music Builds Minds, is raising money for charity Richard Shephard Music Foundation which provides weekly music in primary schools across the region.
The Foundation believes that every child should have the opportunity to experience the benefits of making music.
Through its work in schools, it supports access to high-quality musical opportunities and helps children develop confidence, creativity, communication and a sense of belonging.
The Foundation currently delivers weekly curriculum music lessons to over 500 pupils in Scarborough and hopes to increase this number.
“Music inspires, unites and empowers. The Foundation brings that power into classrooms – ensuring every child, whatever their background, can access high-quality music teaching,” said Andrea Hayes, former Headteacher and Trustee of the Foundation.
Every donation will help to support the Foundation's work in Scarborough. Visit the team’s Just Giving page: Music Builds Minds - Yorkshire Coast 10k to donate.
