SCARBOROUGH ACTS OF REMEMBRANCE 2026: Annual Planting of the Crosses ceremony at Alma Square
Scarborough residents are invited to come together at the Alma Square Garden of Remembrance for the town's traditional Planting of the Crosses service on Sunday, November 1.
Organised by the Scarborough Branch of the Royal British Legion, the special service will run from 11.45am until 12.30pm.
The ceremony will feature prayers of dedication, a formal Parade of Standards, and the placing of individual commemorative crosses to pay tribute to fallen military personnel.
A wide range of civic and community representatives will be taking part, including the Deputy Lord Lieutenant, the Mayor of Scarborough and the Yorkshire Volunteers Band, alongside local cadets, veterans, and standard bearers.
Organisers have described the event as a ‘solemn, almost unique’ tradition for the town, providing the local community a personal opportunity to reflect on and honour the sacrifices of those who served.
All members of the public are welcome to attend and participate.
