A Scarborough man has been sent to prison following an assault on a Police Community Support Officer who was trying to help him.
At Scarborough Magistrates Court on Monday July 6, Nathan Mark Drummond, 38 of Briercliffe, Scarborough pleaded guilty to assaulting an emergency worker.

The incident occurred on Friday June 19, 2026, a Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) from Scarborough’s Neighbourhood Policing Team had been alerted to Drummond by a concerned member of the public.
When the officer attended Alma Parade in the town, she located Drummond with a head injury and blood on his hands.
As she attempted to help him, Drummond delivered a roundhouse style kick to the officer, kicking her in her leg.
Drummond was arrested at the scene for the assault.
Drummond was sent to prison for 24 weeks and was ordered to pay the PCSO compensation of £200.
Superintendent Rachel Wood, Senior Operational Commander of the Scarborough and Ryedale Command said: "This sentence sends a clear message of how the criminal justice system takes such behaviour.
“All too often police officers and staff are subjected to assaults and threats while carrying out their work to protect members of the public - including the very people who abuse them."
