Makers of Rye will be showcasing their work over the Easter weekend, Saturday April 4, to Sunday April 5, 10-4pm.
From painting to printmaking, ceramics to textiles and more, this curated exhibition will transform the village hall into an informal gallery setting, where visitors can view and purchase directly from the makers themselves.
Visitors to the exhibition will have a wonderful opportunity to meet and engage with the exhibitors in a relaxed atmosphere, while enjoying a cup of Yorkshire tea and a slice of home-baked cake.
Made up of eight artists living and working around the Kirkbymoorside area, the group is named after the wonderful river Rye, from which the area also takes it’s name.
It is hoped that the new Makers of Rye exhibition will become an alternative channel for artists and makers to engage directly with the public, and that it will build on it’s success to become an annual event.
Check out the list of amazing artists featured in the exhibition below!

5. Martin Gittins - painting
Martin Gittins is a landscape painter working primarily in oils. He is drawn to the tension that exists between the urban and rural, and creates work that blends real and imagined elements of both the built environment and the natural world. Living in the North York Moors National Park, he is inspired by the landscape of the moors and its contested relationship of nature and artifice. Photo: Makers of Rye

6. Pauline Brown - painting
Pauline Brown is an artist, theatre designer and art therapist living and working in the North York Moors. She works primarily outdoors, and follows the changing seasons. Painting and drawing in the landscape around her, she uses the colours, textures, light and atmosphere of its ever changing moods and seasons as inspiration.
