At just 15 years old, Isaac took on the challenge of running a marathon in October 2025 to raise funds for WHISH, a charity that supports children and young people with disabilities, hidden impairments and SEND.

He ran the 26.2 miles from Scarborough Sea Life Centre to Whitby, cheered on by family, friends and classmates.

Isaac was nominated for the award by trustees and staff at WHISH, who recognised his exceptional commitment and the difference he has made through his fundraising efforts.

His determination, generosity and community spirit have made a significant impact, inspiring others while helping to raise valuable funds for the charity.

The BBC Radio Tees Make a Difference Awards celebrate individuals who go above and beyond to improve the lives of others in their communities.

The Young Hero category honours young people whose actions have had a positive and lasting impact.

Bryony from WHISH said: “Isaac is a truly valued member of our community and he has made us all immensely proud.

"His fundraising efforts have been inspiring, but it is his determination, resilience and courage that have touched so many people.

"Taking on a marathon is no small feat and Isaac approached it with remarkable commitment and strength.

"He is an inspiration to all he deserves every success that comes his way and so much more.

"We have our fingers crossed that he wins.”

The awards ceremony will take place in September, where Isaac will attend with his family to celebrate alongside fellow finalists from across the region.

Everyone at WHISH is immensely proud of Isaac’s achievements and congratulates him on becoming a finalist in the awards.

WHISH is a parent-led small charity which is completely self-funded, supporting more than 200 children and young people in the Whitby & Esk Valley rural area who have a disability, Special Educational Need or Hidden Impairment (HI).
