Whitby's The Mayfield care home 'pulls out all the stops' with third anniversary party

A care home in Whitby pulled out all the stops as it marked a very special anniversary with residents, friends and family.

Care UK’s The Mayfield, on High Stakesby Road, was transformed into a circus for the day by the care home team, inviting a host of local performers to celebrate three years since the home first officially opened its doors.

On the day, guests and residents enjoyed circus themed party games, including Hook a Duck and Charades as well as dancing and singing along to live entertainment from singer Claire Louise and guitar performer Matt Jones-Green.

To truly bring the circus to The Mayfield, members of the care home team dressed up as classic circus characters, with appearances from a ringmaster, clown, pirate and a mime.

The vibrant celebrations concluded with guests enjoying a slice of cake, specially made to mark the occasion by the home’s Head Chef.

Mary Evans, an 86-year-old resident at The Mayfield, said: “The third birthday party was an absolute delight.

"It was lovely to see everyone so happy, enjoying the entertainment.”

Natalie Gill, Home Manager at The Mayfield, said: “We had a magical time celebrating our third birthday – it was made even more special thanks to the friends and family who joined us on the day.

“The past three years have been filled with memorable moments, and we’ve created a real sense of community here at The Mayfield.

"We’ve welcomed some real characters into the home, built long-lasting friendships and made every day special with events both big and small – including the traditional sea shanty concert recently held at the home.

“I’d like to say a huge thank you to our fantastic team who put an incredible amount of effort into making the party one to remember and who continue to make The Mayfield a wonderful place to call home.”

The Mayfield provides residential and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care.

The building includes its own cinema, café and hair and beauty salon, and the team’s focus on ‘meaningful lifestyles’ ensures residents can enjoy engaging activities tailored to their hobbies and daily routines.
