Filey Town Council replaces resigned councillors in uncontested election
Filey Town Council is set to hold its first full meeting after an uncontested election was held to replace seven councillors who recently resigned.
A poll that was scheduled for November 20 to replace seven councillors who resigned from Filey Town Council has been cancelled as the seats were uncontested.

Last month, just five councillors were left to run the council after eight members, including the town mayor, tendered their resignations from the authority.
The replacement of the eighth member is set to be conducted as a co-option, with applications open until December 1.
The newly selected town councillors are Joanne Clayson, Mark Cotterill, Michael Fenlon, Colin Haddington, Kate Nash, Linda Randall, and Graham Thompson.
At an extraordinary meeting of the authority last month, the five remaining councillors decided to postpone the selection of a mayor, leaving Coun Wendy Fenlon, the deputy mayor, holding the authority’s most senior position.
A full meeting of the authority will be held on Wednesday, November 12, when a new town mayor is expected to be appointed.
If the seats had been contested and a poll had taken place, providing polling cards to residents would have cost £4,000 – £5,000, according to a council report.
The seat for the Primrose Ward on Filey Town Council remains vacant and interested residents can apply to be co-opted.
“We are looking for someone with energy and passion who wants to make a positive difference and give back to our local community,” a spokesperson said.
“We would love to hear from you if you are interested in becoming a Filey Town Councillor. Please email the council, including details of why you would like to apply, together with the skills and experience that you feel you would bring to the role.”
Members of the public interested in applying for the position should contact the council by emailing [email protected].
The next full meeting of the authority is set to take place at the Council Offices, 52a Queen Street, Filey, at 7pm, and members of the public are invited to attend.
