The siblings have been caring for their mum, Buff Tappenden-Rowell, who is going blind. The nomination reads: “I feel like that these youngsters need to be recognised for their loving care at a very young age. Doing all housework, shopping, meals, washing and never moaning. They take it all in their stride.”

Also up for an award are the Year 6 pupils at St Martin’s Primary School for their Charitable Fundraising efforts.

The group were given a £5 challenge to raise money for different charities. Half of the money each pupil raised went to a charity of their choice while the other half went to their sister school, St Stephen’s School in Bungoma, Kenya.

Together they raised more than £1,300.
