The Perfume Shop launches new Scent Rediscovery Service at Yorkshire store – plus shop deals online

The Perfume Shop’s new Scent Rediscovery Service has launched in Yorkshire at its Barnsley store – while fragrance lovers can also shop latest deals online.
The retailer has launched its complimentary Scent Rediscovery Service, with Barnsley among just 14 stores across the UK and Ireland taking part in the initial pilot.

The Perfume Shop sells fragrances from more than 130 brands online and across its stores, including Rabanne, Gucci, HUGO BOSS, Mugler and Marc Jacobs, alongside luxury names including Dior, Tom Ford, Guerlain and Hermès.
The new complimentary one-to-one service is designed to help people rediscover fragrances they love as their sense of smell, tastes and lifestyles change.
During a consultation, a trained expert talks to customers about perfumes they previously enjoyed and the notes and scent families they are drawn to now. They are then given personalised recommendations and a perfume preference record reflecting their current tastes.
The service follows new research commissioned by The Perfume Shop among 2,000 UK adults, which found that changes to people’s sense of smell are becoming increasingly common. One in three (33%) of those who have experienced a change attributed it to ageing, while other reasons included illness (20%), allergies (16%), stress (15%), lifestyle changes (15%), hormonal changes (12%) and medication (12%).
The research also highlights the important role perfume can play in how people feel, with 36% associating perfume with confidence, 31% with feeling attractive and almost one in four (23%) viewing scent as part of their identity.
Barnsley store manager Aaron Seddon said the service would help staff “really understand what customers are looking for now” and help them explore something new.
