We asked readers across Yorkshire what gets them feeling most nostalgic about the decade, and it stirred up some very happy memories.
Many of you remember that era fondly as the best time of your life, whether it was the shops, the fashion, the music or simply your lost youth you are pining most for today.
It wasn’t all good, of course. As one reader pointed out, it was the decade of the three-day week, the bread strike, the miners’ strike and the winter of discontent, while soaring inflation left many people facing crippling mortgage repayments.
But, whether it’s because you’re looking through rose-tinted glasses or not, most of you remember the 70s fondly.
Asked what you missed most about the decade, some of you simply replied ‘everything’ or ‘happy days’.
Others were more specific, recalling great nights out at lost venues, good times playing on the streets with friends, and, of course, the prices.
Below are some of the things that came up most frequently when we asked what you miss about the 70s, with retro photos to bring the memories flooding back.

5. Record shops everywhere
Music lovers had many more options when it came to record shops back in the 70s. Woolworths, WHSmith, Boots and HMV were the big established names, with Virgin Records and Our Price the newcomers. There were lots of independent record stores too, like Violet May's shop on Sheffield's Matilda Street, pictured here in 1978 | Picture Sheffield/Sheffield Newspapers Photo: Picture Sheffield/Sheffield Newspapers

6. School dinners
This is a bit of a love-it-or-hate-it one. Some people have fond memories of school dinners in the 70s, while the very thought of them makes others retch. One highlight for many children growing up then was the 'top of custard', referring to the skin that formed as the custard cooled - something some pupils loved but others hated. | Sheffield Newspapers

7. Teen nights at the Mecca
Mecca ballrooms were at the heart of the UK's nightlife in the 70s. It was where many youngsters had their first kiss or met the love of their life. Many people have particularly fond memories of the teen nights they used to host, often on a Monday or Tuesday. | YPN

8. The buses
Many people have fond memories of getting around by bus in the 70s. One person told how they missed Leeds City Transport's rear-loader buses, others pined for the days of 2p fares in South Yorkshire. | YPN
