Beckett League Divisions 3, 4 & 5: Morrell smashes 129 in Valley 3rds win

Andy Morrell was the star man as Forge Valley 3rds hammered Scalby 3rds by 143 runs to re-affirm their Division Five promotion ambitions.

Morrell's stunning 129 was supported by Tim Farrant's 68 as Valley racked up 275-9, Scalby's Turkish seam bowler Tash Turan taking 4-52 and L Howard 3-55 in the process.

Scalby were restricted to 132-8 in reply, Edward Hopper top-scoring with 27.

Their main rivals for the title are Valley Bar Nomads, and they beat Ravenscar 2nds by six wickets.

Ravenscar nudged their way to 114-5 from their 40 overs, Andy Edgar hitting 51 and Dave Ford 25no.

It was never going to be enough as Nomads made it to 115-4, Ben Atkinson's 27 and 24 from Midhun Singh helping them to a comfortable win.

Elswhere, Muston 2nds beat Thornton Dale 2nds by five wickets.

Dale made 125-6, Paul Waring hitting 29 as Brian Anderson claimed 3-38.

Adrian Norris (30) and Dave Meer (27no) helped Muston to 127-5.

Wykeham 3rds stay just behind the pacesetters in third after they overcame Ganton 2nds by just one wicket in a tense affair.

Richard Horsman made 32 for Ganton, but Dan Bateson took 4-40 as they away side were 156 all out.

Despite 4-13 from Joel Sarup and Freddie Lockwood’s 4-34, Graham Shannon (27) and Max Lane (28) helped Wykeham home with four overs to spare.

The top three in Division Four all picked up victories.

Snainton look set to win promotion after they moved even further clear of their rivals with a 137-run win at Lockton.

Ryan Cooper smashed 83 in Snainton's 215-8 as Paul Nicholson added 31 and Ben Norman 25, 4-56 from James Boyes the best Lockton figures.

Norman then claimed 3-10 and Leigh Watson 3-38's helped bowl Lockton out for just 78.

Hospitals Rugby Club stay in second after a 38-run win at Wold Newton 2nds.

Mark Kelly's 52 was the highlight of the Rugby Club's 166-8 as Gordon Taylor (3-27) and Chris Hodgson (3-29) put in a decent shift with the ball.

Phil Hall (34), Pete Auty (32) and Steve Harrison (30) all contributed with the bat, but it wasn't enough as Simon Norris' 3-40 helped restrict the hosts to 128-5.

Cloughton 3rds are keeping pace with the top two and they picked up an 82-run victory at home to Filey 2nds.

The home side were all out for 170, Tom Owenson top-scoring with 50 as Kev Chapman took 5-60.

Liam Buglass (3-10), Jacob Codling (3-21) and Craig Lyon (3-54) then cleaned Filey up for just 88, despite 29 from Lewis Adams.

Cayton 3rds beat Sherburn 2nds by five wickets.

Daz Jones took 3-28 as Sherburn were all out for just 90 before Shakil Iqbal's 29 helped Cayton to 91-5.

Seamer 2nds are now in pole position to win the Division Three title after they won the battle of the top two at Kirkbymoorside.

In-form batsman Joe Tiffany smashed 69 as Seamer made it to 145 all out, Andy Bayes' 4-26 the pick of the Kirkby bowling figures, while Howard Mudd took 3-31.

A magical spell of 7-41 from Dan Jewitt in reply helped bowl Kirkby out for just 125 in reply, despite 25 from Martin Thomson.

Another batsman in stunning form was Ryedale's Dan Hardey, who smashed a sensational unbeaten 123 in his side's 151-run hammering of Nawton Grange 2nds.

Hardy's stunning 123no was boosted by 81 from Dan Walker as Ryedale made it to 283-7 despite the best efforts of Grange bowler Fraiser Northcote-Coon (4-51).

George Bentley's 31 wasn't enough as Grange were restricted to 132-8 in reply, Kieron Edmond taking 3-28 in the process.

Wykeham 2nds stay in third spot after their 47-run success against Muston.

Andy Shepherdson top-scored with 48 as Wykeham posted 170-9 as Darren Newland took 5-51 for the away side.

Laurence Webb (26) and Newland (25) contributed in Muston's reply, but 3-29 from James Wilson and Ian Thompson’s 2-1 left Kyle Orange stranded on 31no as Muston were 123 all out.

Flamborough’s five-wicket win at Flixton 3rds keeps them in the promotion mix-up.

Flixton posted 168-6 with Jake Hatton top-scoring with 50, Carl Sample making 39 and Pete Hill adding 35.

Matthew Emmerson’s 52 not out alongside 30 from Andy Dixon and Marcus Garcia's 27 helped see his side home for the loss of five wickets.
